Towards a safe and just operating
space for EU agriculture

Introductory CAPRI Training, 23-26 September 2024, Berlin, DE

CAPRI, an established economic model supporting decision-making related to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), has been operational for more than two decades. Developed through European Commission research funds, CAPRI relies on a Pan-European network of researchers working collaboratively on an open-source basis. This collaborative approach involves tendering for projects, model development and maintenance, policy impact assessment, scientific publication, and client consultations.

This year’s Introductory CAPRI Training Session will take place from 23 to 26 September 2024 with a title: Applied Data Analysis: Introduction to and Application of the Partial Equilibrium Model CAPRI in Market and Policy Analysis.

This CAPRI Training Session is part of the BrightSpace project’s training and capacity building efforts.

Generally, the course requires knowledge of basic microeconomic theory. Examples of terms with which the participants should be familiar are: marginal cost, marginal revenue, profit maximization and constrained optimization.
Completing a self-study tutorial is a prerequisite for participating in the course.

After completion of the module, participants:

  • understand the model structure, and the characteristics that distinguish CAPRI from other models,
  • understand in some depth one of the core parts of CAPRI,
  • understand the main underlying data,
  • are able to use the Graphical User Interface (GUI),
  • are able to critically analyze CAPRI results,
  • are able to modify scenarios, construct simple scenarios from scratch and more complex scenarios by combining basic scenario files,
  • understand coding practices used in CAPRI.
