Sebastian Neuenfeldt attended the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) 2024 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, United States.
About 1,400 participants were expected to attend this year’s meeting, which features Invited Paper Sessions, Invited Case Study Papers, Organized Symposia, Selected Presentation Lightning Sessions, Selected Presentations of Papers and Posters, and Track Sessions.
The Annual Meeting provides professionals and students in agricultural and applied economics the opportunity to present research, learn about the latest trends, and network.
Sebastian presented results from an analysis of 1999-2020 farm structure survey data from Germany (BrightSpace WP2), which uncovers trends in agricultural structure to deepen the understanding of the dynamics of the agricultural sector (BrightSpace WP3). Specifically, he examined whether certain neighborhood characteristics lead to different exit rates across farm specializations. These may impact the composition of farm specializations, which can have various implications for Safe and Just Space outcomes.
The poster presentation was well received, and fruitful discussions about data and estimation issues, different land market characteristics, and farm structural changes, as well as their relevance in Germany, the US, and other countries, took place.
