Towards a safe and just operating
space for EU agriculture

The 98th Annual Conference of The Agricultural Economics Society will be held at The University of Edinburgh, UK, 18th – 20th March 2024.
The Conference features a Keynote Address (speaker TBC) on the food system and how current crises and risks threaten food security and a Plenary Session on the triptych of global agriculture by Prof. Spiro Stefanou (USDA – ERS) and Prof. Bob Chambers (University of Maryland).

The Presidential Address will be given by Deb Roberts (The James Hutton Institute, United Kingdom).

Dr Yann de Mey (Wageningen University) will give a masterclass on Analyzing risk in agriculture: An overview of defining, measuring, and characterizing farm-level risk exposure. Keep an eye on the website for further updates on the programme.

This year will also feature two special sessions. The first will be on the Journal of Agricultural Economics: Evolution and Challenges, moderated by Dr Jonathan Brooks (Editor-in-Chief, JAE) and Prof. David Harvey (former Editor-in-Chief). The second special session, moderated by Prof. Klaus Glenk (SRUC) and Dr Laure Kuhfuss (SEGS) will be on Survey based experiments to inform agricultural policy design.

Deadline for abstract submission:  15th December 2023
Decisions on acceptance of papers:  12th January 2024
Deadline for full paper submission and early bird registration:  16th February 2024
