On 21 July 2025, the BrightSpace WP10 team met to refine scenario narratives and prepare key inputs for the upcoming 2nd stakeholder retreat in September. The session built on the initial WP10 kick-off meeting, focusing on how best to communicate complex scenario elements in a clear and engaging way for stakeholders.
A core part of the discussion centred around a newly developed Excel-based tool illustrating estimated synergies and trade-offs with pre-selected indicators from WP1 of BrightSpace, as well as proposed policy and behavioural model lever settings across narratives. This tool will serve as the basis for stakeholder interaction at the retreat. To improve accessibility, efforts are underway to simplify language and visualise content, including the use of infographics.
The team also revisited key uncertainties affecting the scenarios. The treatment of the CAP budget remains an open question—whether to fix its size across narratives or allow variation to reflect different budgetary pressures and policy priorities. Similarly, the role of EU enlargement sparked debate, with suggestions ranging from full integration into narrative design to using it as a sensitivity factor in selected cases. Both issues will now be explored further with stakeholders at the retreat.
Clarity in terminology was another theme, particularly concerning the axes of uncertainty. After further discussion, the team agreed to adopt the terms “Holistic view” and “Narrow interest” in place of “holistic” and “siloed,” aiming to better capture the societal and decision-making dimensions across the narratives.
The next WP10 meeting is scheduled for 15 September, shortly before the retreat. The group will finalise stakeholder materials and confirm the integration of feedback into Deliverable 10.1.
