Brussels, 18 June 2025 — A first draft of a joint perspective paper developed by the Horizon Europe projects LAMASUS, BrightSpace, and ACT4CAP27 was presented today to officials at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).
Crafted by leading economic modellers and project coordinators, the paper outlines a forward-looking vision for agriculture’s role in Europe. It emphasises that agriculture is a cornerstone of the EU economy and food system, with deep interconnections to climate action, international trade, technological innovation, and rural development.
The draft paper, once finalised, will be published soon to provide a valuable resource for policymakers, stakeholders, and the wider community.
DG Agri’s Vision for agriculture and food highlights the critical importance of research, innovation, and the horizontal integration of emerging knowledge to support evidence-based policymaking. This meeting demonstrated how science can constructively inform policy, particularly in the context of agricultural modelling and scenario analysis.
The three projects extend their thanks to Fanny le Gloux (DG AGRI) for facilitating this valuable exchange.
Looking ahead, LAMASUS, BrightSpace, and ACT4CAP27 will also be featured in an upcoming clustering workshop on policy modelling scheduled for September 2025, where the conversation on agriculture’s strategic role will continue.
