A new systematic literature review highlights how agricultural production decisions influence the Safe and Just Operating Space (SJOS), offering critical insights for policy modeling and sustainable agriculture.
The study examines three key categories of production decisions:
- On-farm technology usage: Impacts SJOS through yield-related technological choices.
- Farm structural change: Affects economies of scale and scope.
- Field structural change: Influences management efficiency and environmental outcomes.
While significant knowledge exists, the review identifies research gaps that need addressing to improve policy modelling and guide future decision-making for sustainable agricultural practices. This research is a valuable resource for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to enhance SJOS outcomes through informed agricultural strategies.
