BrightSpace, DETECTIVE, and RATION Inter-Project Meeting | 12 January 2026

On 12 January 2026, the EU-funded projects BrightSpace, DETECTIVE, and RATION held an inter-project online meeting to exchange updates, coordinate dissemination activities, and reinforce collaboration as the projects move toward key milestones.

Project Updates

BrightSpace is approaching its second review meeting scheduled this month. An annual meeting will take place in March in Cremona, also addressing reviewers’ comments. As the project is coming to its final two years, dissemination activities have intensified. The 6th BrightSpace newsletter was launched, featuring highlights from GeneBEcon and RATION.

RATION, now in its final year, will hold its second review meeting in February. The project is currently organizing training and dissemination activities related to its web tools, with a final event planned for October in Brussels.

DETECTIVE reported progress on a joint paper applying the Real Options model, adeliverable on the legislative status of New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) has also been completed.

Joint Dissemination and Outputs

A proposal for a joint BrightSpace-RATION-DETECTIVE session to ICABR 2026 conference was submitted. The aim is to provide an overview of the different projects and frame how the Real Options model can be applied accordingly, to develop a generalized, practical framework for identifying regulatory scenarios and integrating these with real options methodology to strengthen decision-making in innovation policy.

A joint BrightSpace–RATION paper on the impacts of reducing hazardous pesticide use has been submitted to the Agricultural and Food Economics journal.

Upcoming Events

  • Next RATION Stakeholders’ Forum: late March or early April 2026 (date TBC), showcasing results from collaborating projects, including GeneBEcon.
  • DETECTIVE Webinar: “NGTs in Society: Consumer and Business Stakeholder Acceptance of NGT-derived Biobased Products” 22 January 2026 | 14:30–15:30 CET | Online. Registration requires joining the NGTs Community of Practice.

Next Meeting

The next inter-project coordination meeting will take place on 16 March 2026 at 11:00 CET.
