Towards a safe and just operating
space for EU agriculture

CAPRI Developer Seminar 2025, 11–12 March, Berlin, DE

The CAPRI Developer Seminar, held on 11–12 March at Humboldt University in Berlin, brought together researchers, software developers, agricultural economists, PhD candidates, and students to explore the latest advancements in the CAPRI partial equilibrium model. The two-day event featured updates on policy simulations, data integration, methodological enhancements, and showcased contributions from EU-funded BrightSpace and ACT4CAP27 projects to bolster CAPRI’s capacity in assessing climate, sustainability, and policy impacts.

Key seminar highlights included sessions on biodiversity indicator development, greenhouse gas projections, livestock mitigation options, and the EU protein gap. Participants had the opportunity to engage in networking, bilateral discussions, and strategic dialogues on CAPRI’s future development and model strategies.

Thanks to the support of BrightSpace and ACT4CAP27 under Horizon Europe, the seminar successfully advanced collaborative efforts, strengthened model capabilities, and fostered knowledge exchange among CAPRI developers and users. The event provided a platform for examining practical applications of CAPRI in policy modelling, particularly in addressing pressing sustainability and climate challenges.

Looking ahead, the seminar sets the foundation for future training opportunities, model updates, and continued collaboration in agricultural economic modelling.

Next year’s CAPRI Seminar is planned for March 10-11th 2026. More information will be available in due time at https://www.capri-model.org/doku.php?id=capri:upcoming
