As part of BrightSpace stakeholder activities, we are organizing an expert consultation focused on advancing just indicators within the Just Operating Space (SJOS) framework on 3 April 2025.
The main focus of the online meeting is “Animal Welfare in a Safe and Just Operating Space for European Agriculture”.
This two-hour expert consultation will bring together experts to refine animal welfare indicators across key dimensions of livestock systems, including husbandry, transport, and slaughter.

🔹 Defining Key Dimensions: Interpreting the different aspects of animal welfare
🔹 Interactive Session: Prioritizing key welfare indicators for cattle, pigs, and chickens using a digital whiteboard
🔹 Moderated Discussion: Exploring the impact, relevance, data availability, and challenges of these indicators
This consultation aims to shape a science-based and stakeholder-driven approach to animal welfare in European agriculture.
