On 30 March 2026, the BrightSpace project’s Scientific and Policy Advisory Board (SPAB) held their sixth online meeting to discuss key project updates and upcoming activities.
The Board acknowledged strong progress during the Second Reporting Period (RP2), particularly in developing the Safe and Just Operating Space (SJOS) framework, advancing the modelling toolbox, and producing robust analytical results. At the same time, members emphasised the need to improve the accessibility and clarity of project outputs, especially for policymakers and non-expert audiences. Short policy briefs, visual materials, and clearer website communication were highlighted as key priorities.
Discussions also focused on aligning BrightSpace work with evolving EU policy developments, including the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), environmental legislation, and upcoming initiatives such as the EU livestock strategy. The importance of addressing uncertainty while maintaining policy relevance in scenario development was underlined.
Looking ahead, the consortium is preparing key deliverables due by the end of April 2026, alongside the launch of the Third Reporting Period. The SPAB will continue to support the project through feedback on results, exploitation pathways, and preparations for the final conference in Brussels.
The meeting confirmed that BrightSpace is on track, with a clear focus on delivering impactful, policy-relevant, and accessible results in its final phase.
