The Swiss Society for Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Sociology (SGA) will hold its 54th Annual Conference on 7–8 May 2026 at BFH-HAFL, Zollikofen, Switzerland, under the theme “Economic and Social Resilience in the Agricultural and Food Sector.”
In the face of global disruptions—from climate change and geopolitical instability to evolving societal demands—resilience has become a strategic priority for agriculture and food systems. This conference will examine how economic, social, and environmental resilience can be strengthened along the entire agri-food chain, from production to consumption.
The event will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to share insights, methodologies, and practical experiences. Key themes include:
- Conceptualizing and measuring resilience across agricultural and food systems
- Balancing resilience with other policy goals such as productivity, sustainability, and equity
- Interconnections between agri-food resilience and other systems (energy, transport, labor)
- Social dimensions, including community networks, labor, gender, and rural livelihoods
- Economic and policy instruments to enhance resilience
- Case studies and innovations in data, modeling, and evaluation
- Impacts of global disruptions on food systems
The conference will feature parallel presentation tracks in English, German, and French. Awards will be presented for the best poster and best presentation, and international participation is encouraged to foster global exchange.
Registration deadline: 15 April 2026
