The first meeting of the BrightSpace Scientific and Policy Advisory Board (SPAB) was held virtually on 12 September 2023.
The session began with a warm welcome from Hans van Meijl, BrightSpace Scientific Coordinator and chair of the meeting. This was followed by a tour de table, where all SPAB members introduced themselves.
Project Coordinator Marc Müller then delivered an introductory presentation on the BrightSpace project, providing an overview of its scope, objectives, and key components. This presentation set the stage for a fruitful discussion on the project’s content. Topics included the importance of biodiversity, food systems, land management, and the broader policy landscape concerning European agriculture.
The meeting concluded with SPAB members offering suggestions for relevant literature and highlighting developments pertinent to the project’s ongoing progress.
This first meeting marked a valuable opportunity for reflection, exchange, and strategic planning. It reaffirmed BrightSpace’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and forward-thinking as it advances the frontiers of agricultural, social, and economic sciences.
