16th International IFSA Conference | June 29–July 3, 2026, Montpellier FR

The 16th International Conference of the International Farming Systems Association (IFSA-Europe group) will take place in Montpellier, France, from June 29 to July 3, 2026, organised by CIHEAM Montpellier.

Under the theme:
“Farming and Agri-Food Systems Dynamics: Facing Crises and Trade-Offs in Transition Pathways”, the conference will provide a forum for critical reflection on the dynamics of farming and agri-food systems, exploring their resilience to crises and the trade-offs and synergies that shape sustainable transition pathways.

Conference Themes:
The IFSA 2026 conference invites submissions for papers and special sessions under four main themes:

  1. Transformative changes – exploring innovations and shifts in farming and agri-food systems.
  2. Landscape and communities – examining the interplay between agricultural practices, landscapes, and societal dynamics.
  3. Capacity development to support systemic change – building skills and knowledge for transformative action.
  4. Food Production, Consumption, Food Landscape & WEFE Nexus – linking food systems with water, energy, and environmental sustainability.

The deadline for submitting abstracts and special session proposals has been extended to 15 October 2025.

Why attend?
The conference will gather an international, interdisciplinary community of researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders. It will be preceded by a PhD course, creating a unique space for exchanging knowledge, confronting experiences, and co-developing sustainable pathways for the future of farming and agri-food systems.
